Thanksgiving is a fun trivia topic 🙂 Once you get beyond the facts almost everyone has heard, Thanksgiving gets much more interesting. Foods have unexpected histories, old traditions have disappeared, presidential decisions have caused confusion across the country, and customs have ended up thousands of miles from the United States.

I wanted this quiz to include those surprises rather than simply repeat the same questions you find everywhere. If you are planning a family gathering too, these Thanksgiving conversation starters give you 100 questions for the table, from funny food debates to family memories and easy prompts for people who do not know each other well.

And since Thanksgiving falls right in the middle of one of my favorite times of year, you can continue with my November trivia questions or discover these surprising facts about fall. If you enjoyed the short interactive format, I also created an interactive Halloween quiz with the same idea: familiar subjects mixed with questions that are much harder than they first appear.

This Thanksgiving interactive quiz has 22 questions, each with four possible answers. Some should feel fairly easy. Others cover food history, forgotten customs, presidents, wildlife, and a few Thanksgiving facts I definitely wouldn’t have known without looking them up.

Choose your answer and you will immediately see whether you were right, along with a short explanation. Your score is calculated automatically at the end, so you don’t have to keep track of anything.

How Did You Do?

Some Thanksgiving questions are easy because the answers have become part of the holiday itself. Others are hidden in old newspaper stories, food history, traditions that disappeared generations ago, and details that sound almost too strange to be true.

That is what I enjoyed most about putting this quiz together. You can start with cranberries and pumpkin pie spice and somehow end up with a White House raccoon, children wearing Thanksgiving masks in old New York, balloons deliberately released over the city, and an official Thanksgiving holiday on a remote Pacific island.

How many of the 22 questions did you get right? Share your score with family or friends and see if they can beat it.
